The Florida Collection at the Venice Library covers all subject areas that have a special emphasis on Florida. This includes traveling, gardening, cooking, history and biographies of famous Floridians, as well as plants and animals in Florida. There are several books on the history of the Venice area. Books as well as videos and DVDs are shelved together in a separate part of the library. All Florida items are identified by a sticker on the spine of the item, outlining the shape of the state of Florida covered by an orange sticker. The Florida Collection at the North Sarasota Library includes nonfiction items that specifically deal with Florida subject matter, such as Florida gardening or Florida travel and history. The collection has been identified and labeled for convenience and is displayed in a separate area. The Florida Collection at the Fruitville Library focuses on the uniqueness of our Florida environment, and includes educational material about our political and social environment. The Florida Collection at the Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Library offers materials on Florida stories, history, attractions, architecture, native plants and more.
